Letter From Robert M. Elliott

Dear Friends,

Emmanuel Christian Academy is now in its eleventh year of serving Christian families in Clark and surrounding counties. Guided by a clear focus on the school’s Mission and Vision, our pursuit of excellence, in every aspect of the school, is seeking to prepare young men and women to be leaders in a world that is increasingly corrupt and immoral. As Paul wrote, “Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil”. (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Today, secular education struggles to develop only the mind and the body. Christian education focuses first on the spirit, then on the mind and body. Dr. H. Gene Garrick states, “The entire process of education is seen as a means used by the Holy Spirit to bring the student into fellowship with God, to develop a Christian mind in him and to train him in godly living, so that he can fulfill God’s total purpose for his life personally and vocationally.” Mark Fakemma addresses the serious contrast between public education and a Biblical worldview approach when he wrote, “Secular instruction is a blunt denial of the centrality of our God. It is the ‘image’ disowning his ‘Original.’ It is worse than that; secular instruction marks a rebellion against the Most High in the field of education. Not only has the Creator been banished from His creation but God has been dethroned and man has been enthroned.”

Whether you are researching Emmanuel to consider placement of your child with us, or one of our growing number of families, I appeal to you to continue seeking a Christ-centered, Biblical worldview education. Emmanuel provides both an environment and a curriculum that is conducive for effective learning. It is part of our responsibility to build Christian character in our students. We provide well defined boundaries that govern students’ behavior. Students benefit from highly qualified educators that teach in their areas of licensure and experience. Our recent recognition and accreditation by North Central Association (NCA) demonstrates Emmanuel’s commitment to excellence and our willingness to be held to the highest academic standards. Accreditation assures parents that Emmanuel is focused on raising student achievement by providing a safe and enriching learning environment. It also demonstrates that we maintain an efficient and effective operation. Accreditation assures parents and the public that we adhere to high quality standards based on the latest research and successful professional practice. At Emmanuel, we are “Empowering Christ-like Excellence”!

Thank you for your commitment to Christian education. We embrace partnering with you for the cause of Christ. May our hearts become increasingly passionate towards our children’s understanding and personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ! Let us model Paul when he stated, “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling will all his energy, which so powerfully works in me. (Colossians 1:28-29)

In Christ,

Robert M. Elliott
