ACADEMICS AT ECA

 OUR ACADEMIC PHILOSOPHY

Emmanuel emphasizes Biblical integration in all areas of academic study and social activities. We seek to create an environment where your child will be firmly grounded in Biblical truth and encouraged to grow spiritually every day. In addition, all Emmanuel students attend Chapel once a week. Chapel time is split into three levels so that each student can participate in a time of age-appropriate worship and speaking. The chapel ages are split into transitional kindergarten through third grade, fourth through sixth grade, and seventh through twelfth grade.

STEM

Emmanuel Christian Academy believes that a solid foundation in science, technology, engineering, and math is critical for all students. We offer several levels of math and science classes in both general studies and our honors curriculum along with options in technology and engineering so that all students have an understanding of STEM subjects after graduation.

Unmanned Aviation STEM Program

We are proud to be the only school in Ohio that offers dual enrollment credit for their drone program through Embry‐Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). High school students enrolled in the program can now earn credit towards both high school and college graduation requirements as well as industry certifications in the fast-growing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) industry. In partnership with the Ohio Department of Education, the Turner Foundation, and Kettering Health Network, this new CCP drone program is open to all local students who are interested in participating.

The four-year program seeks to equip students for careers in technology and aviation. Courses focus on the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) as well as providing industry certifications for immediate workforce development in the UAS field. The coursework will expose students to UAS navigation planning, data entry, UAS safety/security, UAS aerial photography, principles of management, and more.

Students who choose to enroll can earn up to 18 college credit hours for successfully completing all four years. The program will also prepare students to test for a variety of credentials including their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 UAS pilot certification after completing the program.

Our program instructor, Col Bernie "Bunyan" Willis, is a Kentucky Colonel and an Air Force Reserve member with 27 years of aviation experience as a Command Pilot. He is a flight and academic instructor with 2,500 flying hours in the F-16 and 750 hours in the unmanned MQ-1 Predator.

COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS

Ohio’s new College Credit Plus can help students earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college course from a public college or university is free. That means no cost for tuition, books or fees. If you choose to attend a private college or university, you may have limited costs. (This comes from House Bill 487).

INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

Emmanuel Christian Academy is fortunate to attract international students who desire to experience a Christian education in the United States. Students seeking at secondary education from Thailand, Korea, China, Japan and Germany have graced our hallways since September 2003.

We are proud to partner with A+ Global Education to help you through the process. A+ aids international high school and university students as they complete their application and related paperwork.

Why should an international student choose ECA?

International exchange students who choose Emmanuel live with English-speaking Christian families while attending the school. We believe this provides an environment of intentional academic, emotional, and social support. It also allows students to become more comfortable with both the language and culture while attending Emmanuel.
