Important Future Developments

Dear Emmanuel Family,

I’d like to briefly share four developments on the horizon. More details will follow in the coming months as we move through each phase together.

Building Expansion:

We’re exploring the possibility of expanding our facility to welcome up to 100 additional students—bringing our total to 500. This expansion would include new performing arts rooms, intervention spaces, a weight room, and an enclosed chemistry lab. We are excited about the opportunity this growth brings to our families and community.

Turner Foundation Support.

As many of you know, the Turner Foundation has been an incredible blessing to Emmanuel, generously supporting our mortgage and the construction of our building since 2000. Their support will conclude in 2028, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership. Their biblical worldview impact is beyond measure. We will look to refinance our loan when the rate environment is favorable.

Capital Campaign.

To help fund the expansion and reduce our debt, we are considering a Capital Campaign. Our goal would be to raise enough to keep our future mortgage payments close to what we currently pay. We’ll share more as plans develop.

Leadership Transition.

With these long-term initiatives ahead, consistent leadership is essential. As I approach 67, I’ve been reflecting on what’s best for Emmanuel’s future. I believe it’s time to begin implementing our leadership succession plan. The search and preparation process will take about nine months, with the new Head of School expected to begin on July 1, 2026.

I remain deeply committed to Emmanuel. After serving 15 years as a non-voting board member and then stepping into the superintendent role in the Spring of 2018, I plan to continue part-time as Director of Business Affairs. This will allow for a smooth transition and continuity in our upcoming projects. If the Board does not find the called person, I’m willing to continue in my current role for another year.

The Board is currently in the planning phase, and you can expect regular updates throughout the school year—with more frequent communication as we near the end of 2025.

Please keep these plans in your prayers. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me or our Board President, Jon Decker, at jonathan.decker22@gmail.com.

Blessings,

John Essig
Executive Director
